Zion Forever [Explore]
Just outside the Zion National Park Forever Project Visitor Center, my wife and I had already taken dozens of pre-dawn through sunrise images looking upon the Towers and the Temples of the Virgin, so we walked back toward the parking area, where this scene was unfolding with the morning light.
Looking northeast, into the canyon, the sun was beginning to illuminate the thin cloud layer above and bring light into the depths of the canyon, exposing the wide range of colors that make up the canyon floor carved by the Virgin River. The full spectrum of color that is found in the red rock region of the Colorado Plateau is so much richer than any other place I have experienced. Whether in Arizona, Utah, Colorado, or New Mexico, the red rocks, blue skies, and verdant plant life combine to make spectacularly sumptuous displays of Mother Nature's palette, even on a freezing January morning.
No trip to this region has left me disappointed. I can't wait to begin traveling again.
Congrats on Explore!
