Beyond the Dream

Tyndall Creek flows down the eastern side of the Continental Divide from a similarly named glacier in the saddle between Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain (whose peaks can be seen on the extreme right edge of this image). The creek feeds Emerald Lake and Dream Lake before wending its way to join Glacier Creek near Bear Lake Rd.

Between the two lakes, along the Emerald Lake Trail, is this massive boulder, which has been slowly eroded over time, but the seasonal flows of the creek, seen here cascading at its base.

The spectacular colors of the surrounding rocks and the bright Spring green of the pines around this area caught my eye. To gain a little perspective, the pines on top of the boulder are approximately 5' tall.

Admittedly, this image utilizes a sky-replacement from Luminar, because capturing the intensely bright cloudy sky (the blown-out sun near the Flattop Peaks is from the original image) against the deep. dark shaded side of this boulder proved very difficult. I thought this sky image best approximated the skies we saw the day we hiked in June 2018.
