When the Focus Shifts

At this time of year, the focus shifts from the politics on the Hill and in the White House, and away from the monuments on the mall to the annual blossoming of the Japanese cherry trees around the tidal basin.

So vibrant and full of colorful life, they offer the perfect counterpoint to the stoic, heavy monuments and sculptures assembled around West Potomac Park and the National Mall, and the dark and stormy conditions of the politicos who occupy the city.

Each Spring these trees blossom to bring hope to a city that always seems to be preoccupied with insurmountable problems. Each year they prove that life goes on, goodness lives, and that there is much more to life than what takes place in those chambers.
