Tachidōrō

This stone pedestal lantern, located within the grounds of one of the temples of Nikko, is slowly being reclaimed by nature.

 

Though it was a rainy, cloudy day when I visited Nikko, the vibrant greens of the natural surroundings against the contrasting vermilion of the temples was spectacular. I look forward to returning one day to take proper photos of this magical and mystical place.
