Project Open Hand
Giant Race Benefiting Project Open Hand 2013
The fourth-annual Giant Race Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and FedEx Kids Race/Family Relay Benefiting Project Open Hand took place on Sunday, August 4, 2013. It was the largest Giant Race ever, with 20,000 racers, ranging in age from 4 to 80+ years old. Nearly 1000 volunteers lent a hand to support the event.
The Giant Race helps raise critical funds for Project Open Hand, which provides nutritious “meals with love” to seniors and critically ill neighbors in the Bay Area. Every day, Project Open Hand prepares 2,500 nutritious meals and provides 400 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, isolation, or the health challenges of old age. We serve San Francisco and Alameda Counties, engaging more than 100 volunteers every day to nourish our community. Learn more at www.openhand.org.
