Cranes in Flight

The cranes stop by in their migration back to their nesting grounds in the north. While they're here, they gorge on the leftover field corn to put on enough fat to survive the rest of their journey. At night, they roost often on the sandbars of the Platte River. I went out to the center of the migration area today to experience the birds, but only had time to see them in the fields. I'd love to go back for the morning take-off or the evening return.
