Gorillapods are cool
The thing (the SLR-Zoom model) does a passable job of holding up my camera in stable situations (I totally trust it to hold my camera in the portrait orientation on a table, for instance), but it's really shined for me as an "attach the flash anywhere" tool. I've stuck it to doorjams, trees, rails, smoke hoods, doors, 2x4's, 6x8's, and, as you can see here, a fence. It's a little blurry because it's a handheld shot. Even f/1.4 and ISO 3200 couldn't save this from being a 1 second exposure.
