Day 51 (417) - 16 Things
Sixteen days ago, Sandi invited me to share 16 random facts about myself. I've thought about it for a while, considering not what facts to share, but rather whether to participate at all. Then Karen called me out on it. So, here you go. Some of these are recycled from other places, and I can't guarantee all of them are new to my photostream, but here they are.
1) I have a bald spot, or at least a balding spot. At 25. My dad's 48 (happy birthday, Dad!) and doesn't have a bald spot!
2) For a long time, I couldn't name a song I liked that wasn't older than me.
3) I have always been alone. There's never been a "that special someone" in my life.
4) I like wearing socks, but hate wearing pants. That doesn't mean I avoid wearing pants in public, though. And I've even put on pants exclusively to take a 365 shot.
5) I've always liked sports, but never been good enough at any to join a team. Any sports team I've been associated with would have been better off without me (not counting high school gym class teams).
6) I used to sing bar karaoke when I was a kid, because it looked fun and "Hey, I know that song!"
7) I've had basically the same hairstyle for the better part of a decade. Once again with the 25 part, that makes it the better part of my life.
8) I can't stick my tongue out past my bottom lip, because I'm mostly tongue-tied.
9) I have a plaque for being an awesome math student. Okay, that's not what it says, but I was selected as the top math student in my high school.
10) I received an award in the eighth grade for best use of wasted time for memorizing over a hundred digits of pi. I still remember more than I care to recite.
11) I had my face torn open by a dog when I was a little kid. Calling it an attack isn't quite honest, really more of an accident. I've been distrustful of dogs ever since, because they don't know what "going too far" means.
12) I've had the same alarm clock for about 15 years now. Still works, too. It's on its third house now.
13) I've never liked wearing jeans. Ever. Should this be part of #4? No. That's how much I hate wearing jeans. Jeans on others? Fine. On me? No.
14) My first car was a powder-blue Ford Tempo with a rust-colored hood that couldn't latch. While the bungee cord did a decent job of holding it down, one day the hood did pop up on me while I was driving. That was fun.
15) I've always been one to over-inform. I'll take a topic to the point of maximum interest, then keep going. I'm sure I've put off many polite people with this one, though I'm a lot better than I used to be.
16) I always resist doing something new, yet always appreciate that I've done it. I really should have learned by now just to do it, but I still hold back. Personally, physically, professionally; everything about me enjoys reaching further, yet doesn't want to reach out. It's why I'm shy, don't travel, and spend so much time inside. It's another one of those paradoxes of my existence I don't yet understand.
So, there you go. I did it, Sandi and Karen did it (as have a few other of my contacts), why don't you share some random facts about yourself?
