Day 155 - Victory, For Once
Went down to the prerelease for the latest set for Magic: the Gathering today, walked out with a fair bit of prize.
Magic is a game (Matt referenced it recently) which I've been playing on-and-off for about 12 years. Yet it shows up very rarely in my photostream. Probably the best attempt at describing it I've given was on this picture, back before I was doing 365 or even much of anything on Flickr.
Well, every few months, they release a new set of cards. Two weeks or so before they go on sale, they have these huge events with the new cards to give people a sneak peek. The events are usually very casual, but as with any game, it's nice to win. For the past several events, the best I can really say is that I showed up. I've been in quite a slump lately as far as actually "winning" goes. It's probably been about four years since I did as well as I did today.
And it felt good.
But I'm not sure if I'll let it take anywhere near the role in my life I did back then, when I was fairly good at the game. I'll take my small victory and enjoy it. I don't need to bask in the glow of the limelight; the sunlight is just fine.
