Day 75 - Pizza

So, I went to a local pizza place for dinner, ordered the deep-dish with pepperoni, bacon, and pineapple. This is what comes out. As you can see, there's canadian bacon (not "regular" bacon) on it. At first, I looked long enough to know for sure that, in fact, this wasn't what I ordered. Once I was sure of that, the dialog ran:

"Is that canadian bacon?"

"Yeah."

"I ordered regular bacon."

"Oh, well, if it's wrong, we can take it back and fix it real quick."

I froze up for a minute after that one, as I went through the following inner monologue:

"Gee, I'm hungry."

"But it's not what you ordered."

"Yeah, I know, but I'm hungry now. I don't really want to wait for another pizza."

"But it's not what you ordered. You don't even like canadian bacon on a pizza."

"Yeah, but I'm hungry now. And did she say they could fix it 'real quick'? A real quick fix does not a good pizza make."

"Good point. Yeah, just eat this one. Besides, you start sending food back, you never know what's going to come out."

At this point, the conversation continues:

"I think I'll just try this."

"Are you sure? We can fix it."

"Yeah, I'll just try this."

So, I ate it. On the whole, it was probably the wrong decision (both on principle and on simple taste), but I made it. She made no effort to come back to see how I was doing, to see if I was still okay with my decision, to see if I even wanted more water until far too late in the evening.
