Respect
The face of a New York City police officer during the Women's March on January 21st, 2017. I call this Respect because of how these men and women in blue treated the marchers with respect and how the marchers, in turn, treated New York City's finest in a similar fashion. There was no show of force with batons waving in the air or any sense of a military-style occupation. The police were there to help route the march and the flow of traffic, as your friends. The march of 400,000 was peaceful in the tradition of those I marched in back in the 60s for civil rights and against the war in Vietnam. The NYPD has a tough job ahead of them with Trump Tower, the new President's home away from DC, being located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. I salute them for their courage and respect.
