How to for hollow beads using yarn core
This is where I currently stand with my experiments to make hollow beads in a single go. It is not perfect, but maybe someone can improve on it. There is a second picture with an analysis of the pros and cons.
Make a center pull ball (also called center pull skein) from a non meltable/not too flammable yarn (mine is cotton). I always suffer greatly through this step, so my technique is probably not very good, and I won't give it here. This is a yarn ball where the end of the thread comes out from the middle of the ball. If you pull on the end, the whole will come starting with the middle of the ball.
Cover the ball as you wish with polymer clay (here, it was translucent fimo with a bit of alcohol inks), leaving out the end coming out of the middle of the ball.
Bake as usual.
To remove the core, just pull on the end of the yarn.
