forest-edge underplantings
[not my garden, post is temporary for illustration, credit unknown, found on net, sigh]
Still not entirely suitable, as the rock edging follows the woods-line a little too closely. In natural ecozones, the forest edge comes out and goes in, a rough W-shape repeated all along border areas. I strongly dislike shrubs lined up like victims of an evergreen firing squad. Plants don't grow naturally in lines, but in rough clumps, duh.
