An afternoon spent trying change a faulty 4wd bulb. In the end, the bulb hadn't failed, just a bad contact apparently, but a useful exercise anyway.
Not a very sharp shot (too close for the phone camera), but this is the bulb, pushed through the board from the rear and twisted to lock in position. Many people seem to advocate replacing these with l.e.d. alternatives, but I'm concerned that, as the problem here was lack of continuity between bulb and board, a l.e.d. would be even more prone to trouble, with very little current flow.
