Prendergast Library will offer area residents the opportunity to learn basic computer skills starting Monday, January 6th. Adults will meet for six two-hour sessions from 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, starting Jan. 6th through 17th. Another six-part course covering the same material will be held Feb. 3-14.
The course is offered in cooperation with Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES with support from the New York State Library's Adult Literacy Library Services grant program.
"This will be helpful if you are wondering about the most basic computer questions," according to Library Director Tina Scott.
The course covers computer terms, turning terminals on and off, using a mouse, navigating the Windows operating system, writing letters with Microsoft Word, and saving to different computer drives. Adults also learn how to set up, send and receive email and use the Internet for purposes such as job searching, shopping, etc.
Instruction is free and open to the public. For information or registration call 716-484-7135 ext. 225, or visist Prendergast Library at 509 Cherry. St., Jamestown.
