Remembering Courage
I discovered this past Thursday that students from a high school, near where I work, had laid out these flags and markers as part of a tribute to the American military men and women who have died in Iraq and in Afghanistan. This is the third year the school community has participated in this "Arlington Project". While there taking photos, the Principal of the school approached me. In talking with him about this he said that the students had to add an additional six rows to honor those who had died since last year's tribute. Each of the little white markers bears the name of one who has died in service to the United States. Monday is recognized as "Memorial Day" - a National Holiday in this country.
