Aletsch Glacier
Such is the thickness of Aletsch Glacier formed due to the snow deposited over the several years, that the hikers hiking on it are like a miniature (towards the right). Its not possible to hike the glacier without sure - footedness assisted by Ropes, Crampons and Harnesses. Usually the hike is assisted by qualified guides. Glaciers melt and retreat (one main reason being global warming) and break down like huge rocks. Also seen in this panoramic view is the Olmenhorn (3314) peak.
