Christmas at The Skywalkers' (B)

There was a fair amount of folks who felt that C-3PO might have been a better choice than Vader's helmet, and that's a fair point.

 

I concepted the idea years ago but only got around to tackling it this year (mostly due to the rigor of producing daily advent calendar pics). The core of the humour in the original is Luke's misguided attempt to honor his father by topping the tree with his helmet. It's a bit of dark humor, which I tend to gravitate towards.

 

C-3PO as a tree-topper is perhaps a bit obvious, but it works. I think it loses some nuance by shifting the focus from the Skywalker family to broader Star Wars family (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, Artoo, C-3PO), but I can see how some people might prefer this version.

 

No need to compromise, really — it was easy enough to make two versions!
