Opening Session

The international conference on "Advancing solutions for climate change challenges in rural Viet Nam" kicks-of in Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry on 4th November 2024.

There are more than 200 participants join the international conference (including about 50 international ones) from universities, research centres and institutes, agencies, international organizations in Viet Nam, individuals who work in climate change topics with global leading experts in the field, including a scientist who was awarded Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 as member of the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an United Nations’ body for assessing the science related to climate change.

The conference takes place in hybrid manner with aims to exchange research, scientific findings and solutions related to impact posed by climate change, the vulnerability and strategy for climate change adaptation in rural areas of Viet Nam, as well as climate-change-related information sharing on education, communication and capacity building.

Among the main topics to be discussed at the conference are the impacts of climate change on rural communities, best practices in climate adaptation and mitigation, capacity building for local stakeholders, and enhancing community resilience. Through knowledge sharing, collaborative dialogue, and innovative thinking, the conference aspires to empower rural communities to become a core factor in their resilience-building efforts. In addition, organizers also expect to contribute meaningfully to Viet Nam's efforts in addressing the adverse effects of climate change and achieving its sustainable development goals through leveraging the diverse expertise and insights of our participants.
