Eclipse 2008
BACKSTORY:
Today I completely forgot about the lunar eclipse and was reminded at work. Lucky for me I bring my camera everywhere I go, unforunately I only had my prime 50mm lens with me. Needless to say, this is when you have to start getting clever. I had to ask myself "What shot can I possibly get with a prime lens of an object that's thousands of miles away and have it still look good?"
These shots (1 of 3) were what I came up with. I used the same composition in all three just to make sure I got the shot right. I then left for home and grabbed my 18-200 to take more while it was still out.
In the end, I still don't have the proper equipment to get a closeup shot of the moon, I'll leave that to the other millions of cliche shots of the moon that other professionals have taken
