Yellow Daylily Macro

"Yellow Daylily Macro Square" by Patti Deters.

This close-up macro clearly shows the detail and beauty of the center stamens (anthers + filaments) and ruffles or frilly petals of this yellow daylilly (Hemerocallis) blossom. These beautiful summer flowers are common in Minnesota gardens. They are so named because each bloom lasts only one day. They are perennial plants and symbolize the sacrifice that a mother makes for her child. They also represent good luck and/or flirtation. Yellow traditionally is a color for sharing happiness and good cheer.
