Greeting villagers on Waya Lai Lai DSC_0521
My tour guide greets a village chief's daughter who is eating breadfruit from her back yard. Most Fiji women wear Afros in a style they call "duck tails" to pay homage to their African ancestors who landed in Fiji in 1500 B.C., according to the Fijians. Probably explains why all of their village chiefs live in African styled Burés.
