Festuca idahoensis

Festuca idahoensis, Idaho fescue, is short statured and with a narrow or tight panicle at high elevations and taller and with a more open panicle at lower elevation or on more protected slopes. These photos come from the New Army Pass area and are representative of this species in the change of phenotype with respect to elevation and exposure. In any case, the secund arrangement of the spikelets is always evident.
