Shorty!
A Short-eared Owl hunts from a road sign. This is common - as they do like the height of the signs and seem to be able to fly off very fast. I shot some in-flight images but they were not good for reason below. The area is in a huge wildlife refuge.
At least the sign matches its eye color!
This was our first sighting this year - but as we positioned ourselves - some person saw us and drove up and spooked them away causing no opportunity for flight shots. I will head back!
