Amplitude Modulation
Amplitude Modulation or AM Radio. I remember laying under the sheets with a little am radio much like this one (though mine was a plain black and had a leather case) late at night, listening to stations from around the world back when the power of these stations was pretty well unregulated and there was enough cloud cover to bounce the signal off of. From my home in Ontario I could listen to stations from Hawaii to South America and occasionally Europe.
