Sedgers and Hotrod building a gabion for the new sluice/dam PB220079

Hi Voles

Another good day in the fresh air doing something useful. The weather was not bad but a bit grey and dismal most of the time. We had a nice fire and Michelin Woman, Maryla, got to play in the ditch in her new dry suit. As you will see she looked very cool as well as very happy as she puddled the mud and banged the wedges into the sluice.

Malcolm brought along some excellent cakes so, despite the absence of the TWF at 11am tea and lunch, energy levels were maintained through the day. A lot of good work was done and hopefully Sedgers is well pleased. These tasks included some more shrub planting, moving a pile of rusty old iron, thinning out the wooded area and of course the new dam. There wasn't too much wildlife to see but I caught a few insects and found several impressive fungi as the conditions at last seem suitable for them.

We had several visitors through the day, 4 and 2 legged in the form of Trevor Smith and Tilly, an unidentified Golden Retriever, Liz and eventually Mr Buxton who came back from Bedford just in time for 3pm tea.

Well not too much else to waffle on about!

Cheers

John P
