A late afternoon visit and inspection of Dropshort Marsh N R on 12/06/2024 . My main intention was to check on the progress of the Marsh Valerian but despite a good hunt none was visible at present but pleasing to see were a great quantity of Common Spotted Orchids along with Ragged Robin and Yellow Rattle. Not much else was visible except for a solitary Chimney Sweep moth.
At the entrance a sign indicated cattle were already grazing the reserve but despite a good look none were to be seen until I saw three red cows settled down in the adjoing field looking very content. On the way back I checked for obvious gaps in the fence but found none. In the end I emailed BCN WLT and Andy F to report this mystery.
