A brief morning visit to DENR from c11.10am to 1pm. Everything looked very green and the Hawthorn blossom was amazing. First stop was Pond 3 where a few Large Red Damselfloes were often sitting resting in the warm sun as this part of the reserve was sheltered from the cool northerly breeze. There were only a few insects about but I bumped into Graham Bates from Ampthill who has just retired and has taken an interest in Odonata. and now has a butterfly transect at Sharpenhoe. I was using the 60mm F2.8 Olympus macro today but without focus stacking and using a far from bright viewfinder the results have been indifferent. At one point I fell over by Pnd 3 but luckily only suffered injury to my dignity.
