GST Voles at Duck End NR 31/1/2017
Dear All
I spoke to DW yesterday and told him what a fine job you had all done yesterday at Duck End. It is only a month or so to go before the place will start to bloom & buzz. Hopefully the snaps at www.flickr.com/photos/pitzys_pyx/ give some idea of the havoc wrought on the paddock area and the fun we all had wrapping ourselves in long lengths of bramble & oak before traipsing ever so carefully towards another one of Tim's elegant fire platforms. Particular mention has to be made of Malcolm's cakes of the day, including some of that delectable dark chocolate biscuit crunch that fortunately I allowed myself a small piece despite arriving even later than usual. Even later it was so good to greet those three lovely ladies "Audrey, Erika and Sue" . As Tim mentioned, the weather aws not very cheerful and for a short while quitet damp but this allowed some atmospheric misty shots of the birch trees. I didn't see any wildlife but had a brief look at the sandy top corner where there is an old badger set and some lichens. I also looked at the top boundary hedge we planted eons ago (probably 10 years or more) that still has it's plastic guards and canes in situ. The hawthorn etc must have reached at least 3 feet in height.
Well I shall miss you all next week as somebody at L&D Eye Dept will probably be sticking me in the eye with a sharp needle. Take care in my absence.
Cheers John P
Subject: Thanks and Next Week's Task
Dear All,
Thank you to all those who came down to Duck End yesterday; it was a bit damp at times but we had a good task and got a lot of scrub cleared. Galler's Pasture is
looking a lot better for your effort over the past couple of years.
Next week's task is at Maulden Church Meadow with Andrew; meet in the church car park at 10am (map attached).
Regards,
Tim
