DSC_5930

John Curd1:27pm Dec 13

OK, as expected, your Ozzie Odos were a useful exercise for my book. It's a photographic guide, rather than drawings, which I think would be better, and only one photo per species so the views are very limited. So, this all comes with a public health warning. However, I think DSC_5926 (red abdomen) is probably a Fiery Skimmer (Orthetrum villosovittatum) and DSC_5956 (pruinose abdomen, like a Black-tailed Skimmer) is likely to be a Blue Skimmer (Orthetrum caledonicum). There's a couple of shots, DSC_5930, of an orange-looking individual on a stem. I can't find anything orange at all so I'm wondering about the light - could it have really been red? If so, the Red Arrow (Rhodothemis lieftincki) looks like a possibility. Don't quote me, though. grin emoticon
