Lions Gate Bridge

Lions Gate Bridge by Charles Marega

Stanley Park

Vancouver, British Columbia

Sculptor Charles Marega’s lions were installed at the south approach to Lions Gate Bridge in 1939. Marega was reportedly unhappy with the work... he had wanted the lions to be of bronze but budget restrictions forced him to use concrete.

Note: The original huge custom-made jerseys were stolen and this is a replacement mistakenly taken from the Lord Stanley statue in Stanley Park.
