Aurora Earrings- Roman Inspired Gemstone Earrings

Aurora Earrings

31 March, 2011

Turquoise, rubies and keishi pearly wrapped with 14K gold-filled wire.

Aurora is the Latin word for dawn, the goddess of dawn in Roman mythology and Latin poetry. She renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the sun.

These earrings are another in my Romana series. The design was originally inspired by a 2,500 year old Roman gold earring found in Jerusalem. Bright blue turquoise briolettes are surrounded by a golden halo wrapped with 14K gold-filled wire. A pair of long keishi pearl drops with faceted ruby tops hangs from the bottom of each. The earrings hang a hair over 2-1/2 inches in length
