Bristlecone Pine

Bristlecone Pine in The Ancient Bristlecone Forest, White Mountains, California. These trees have been shown to live up to and beyond 5,000 years. They grow very slowly, and are relatively small and stunted, living in a very harsh environment. It is humbling to think that some of these trees were alive and growing when the Great Pyramids and Stonehenge were built, and they were already 1,000-2,000 years old in the time of Rameses the Great and 2,000-3,000 years old in the time of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. We are just a blink of the eye in comparison.
