365 Day 348**
Greetings random one. Welcome to day 348 of my already completed but not yet posted 365-day selfportrait project.
So upon finishing the editing of this photo, I decided it would be neat to write “pimp” on the wooden wall. You know, add it in as if it was already on the wall via graffiti. This wall has character, so I figured I could pull it off.
I’ve actually added “pimp” to the shot three times already. Day 337, day 346, and on pimpexposure, the CLASSIC shot of the hitman killing the cowboy is rocking the back wall in cowboy juice.
However I couldn't get it to look natural in this shot. So Instead of scrapping the idea entirely, I decided to sneak it into the shot in a more ambiguous place. Similar almost to that of a painter who signs their name as the last thing to add to a finishing painting.
I guess another word for that would be watermark in the photoworld.
HOWEVER. . .
Do realize that for the most part I despise watermarks. They almost always completely detract from the image, some being worse than others. They make pictures look like stock photography mass downloaded from walmartphotos.com or something. If someone is going to “steal” your image via a screengrab and use it for his or her benefit, fuck it. If I didn’t want someone to steal it, I just wouldn’t publicly post them on the Internet. Trashing them up with watermarks just makes everyone lose, including the artist.
Which leads me back to this idea. I developed this quick raw little “pimp” emblem that I am going to attempt to add and hide in every picture I finish from here on out (unless the image isn't suitable for it). It’ll be small, barely detectable, but it’ll be there starting with THIS shot. So I guess it's where's waldo pimp over at my place with every new post. And I as a side benefit I even am lucky enough to get a watermark by default.
pimptastic!
The shot at hand? I stopped by this recreational area during my evening errands to bang out my daily shot. The light emanating off of this particular wall caught my eye. I set the shutter to like 1/4 second and 1/6 second to capture in camera motion while keeping 1 leg in focus. Took about 10 outtakes to get it done. I’ve done a few of these shots in the past. I think this one came out pretty decent.
