Waiting for Action

Ten optimistic recruits look eager for their chance at the Germans. The note on this post card reads, "I think you can pick me out in here. If you can't write to me and I will tell you. Four of the boys in this picture are going to France with the Battery when they go."

 

The fully outfitted soldier on the right holds an Enfield No. 3 Mark I rifle. Manufactured in the US by Remington and Winchester, it was a near-twin of the M 1903 Springfield but is differentiated in this photo by the sights and receiver.
