Buckeye Monday...

...and much better when viewed large.

Good morning and I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Today's featured butterfly is the Common Buckeye (Junonia coenia) seen here in these photos feeding on Goldenrod (Solidago). And while Buckeyes were quite numerous this season, as they usually are during September - October, they weren't as plentiful as in past years. But in spite of this, only Orange Sulphurs exceeded them in terms of shear numbers.

Coincidently this is the first time every photo in a series for yours truly was taken at the same camera settings. Quite unusual since I always use manual mode and constantly adjust aperture, and especially exposure.

I hope you enjoy this series of one of my favorite butterflies...and I hope you have a truly great Monday and week.
