Old Mill Creek State Historic Park

13 Jun 1988, Mon

Had breakfast at Holiday Inn and headed to ‘Old Mill Creek’. Discovered in 972 the buildings and dam of the settlement date back to the Revolution. The site is slowly being excavated. Walked along the nature trail seeing signs of a beaver dam. Headed north to Sault Ste Marie and had a look at the Soo Locks. Headed back east through the Hiawatha National Forest and to the Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Came home via the Lake Michigan coast line, which we would like to revisit, especially Traverse City and Petoskey. Crossed the 45th Parallel, halfway between the equator and North Pole.
