Locomotive History

Gordon was built by Hunslet in 1978 for the National Coal Board as a flame proof underground locomotive and worked underground at initially the Allerton Baywater colliery and later the Castlebridge colliery. It was rebuilt with a new body at the Amerton Railway in 1997. It was originally a 2ft 6inch gauge locomotive and has been re-gauged to 2ft to run on the Amerton Railway.
