Locomotive History
66739 was originally 66579 and leased to Freightliner. It was built in 2005 by General Motors - Electro Motive Division at their factory in London, Ontario, Canada and was unloaded at Newport Docks on the 16th March 2005. After less than five years service it was one of a batch of four Freightliner class 66’s locomotives (66578 – 66581) stored in early December 2009 at Leeds Midland Road. In March 2011 66578 was sold to GBRf and re-entered traffic in early May 2011 being renumbered to 66739.
