Tanjay Roman Catholic Cemetery (Philippines 2010 )

DSC_0152

The old Roman Catholic Cemetery of Tanjay stands out as you pass by the National road going to Dumaguete or vice versa .Through the years new tombs were put on top of another like new layers until it resembles like a cemetery wall . Because of the visible congestion and the obvious demand of decent space for the departed love ones there are new relatively spacious cemeteries posh rising in few corners of Tanjay . But this particular cemetery does interest me a lot ,something of old ,randomly laid out ,it's physical growth of layers through time comes with some character ,well to me it has .

Every time I visit the Philippines ,I always put this in my mental list of places to photograph but for some reasons in the past trips this always comes last and never .It was only during this last trip to the Philippines that I was so determined to stop by ( that was during the Tanjay fiesta ) and took few shots. Bystanders stared at me . Their gaze not of amusement but bewildered and questioning , as it's not commonly seen people photographing graves , understnadably it all came bizarre to them - as if I saw and read all their thoughts in split second like a top psychic ( I am only imagining it though ) --- this woman must have gone mad – loopy lo .

But I got the shots I wanted .
