Afternoon at the Kokoos Nest
DSC_0515
This is my daughter so amused with Kokoos Nest's three friendly dogs Barnie ,Sally and ? dunno the name of the third dog . Soon we arrived she put on her swimming costume but instead of going into the water ,she spent entirely her time with the dogs . I was a bit cautious as there is prevalence of rabies in dogs here . But staffs assured us they are very friendly pets and had anti-rabies injections ,and well looked after too These are the dogs of Jamie and Nikki Ingram a retired British couple ( purely brits originally from Bristol ) who operates this quiet seaside resort of Antulang ,a tad away to the Antulang Beach Resort owned by a rich Chinese . We visited Kokoos Nest many times in the past . This used to be owned by our friend Mark and Fellie ( Australian - filipino ) who moved back to Australia when their kid soon to start school . I had photos just before they left and that of the 90's when this place was isolated sand and beach , no man-made structures erected yet . We even camped here once before with hubby and moved into a small cave by the next cove for shelter from the storm .
I always felt the Philippine humidity too high and sometimes can be uncomfortable just on the first few days / first few weeks. When I was living in the Philippines I didn't even noticed it , I suppose our bodies used to the heat and high humidity . As it gets closer to a month's stay we seem to be more acclimatized ,but it's time to fly back to England .
I guess it must be the familiarity we kept visiting this far corner of Siaton .It's small beach resort tucked away in the far end of Siaton ,quiet and peaceful .A place not buzzing with other loud tourists lol , no loud deafening / annoying music either for a change . It's clean ,the food is nice ( no sweet horrible spaghettis hahaha some people here know what I mean =)))). It's cheaper too ( P 1500 pesos / a day it's about £23 depending on the exchange rate ) for a family cottage . It has good snorkelling , can connect to the internet mobile broadband ( if you buy a Smart or Globe dongol for about P 1000 pesos + ) .Most of the cottages are renovated anew ,although basic , only with fan but clean ,that's what we wanted for few days .The downside is ,no hot shower though . But who needs hot shower when most times you just wanted to cool down .This must be how the ' no hot shower ' can be justified here =)) This place isn't easy to reach either ,you need to get your own transport to fetch you in and out or perhaps get the resort to collect you but that's extra cost on top .
If people wanted a posh place, with infinity pool , aircon and other fascilities ,there is the choice of Antulang Beach Resort just a little further up the big rock jutting out to the sea in this photo .The Resort is owned by Boy Lee ( a rich Chinese ) who does package tours from Hong Kong and the mainland China .
=)) and off the records , I don't get commission from the infos lol :P
