My rants ....

I'll try my best to speak nicely as I can on this subject.

Silence isn't good , it's confusing.

I have to share my odd rants here as I received 'annoying' emails from few flickr users these past couple of weeks, with the same email content : A link to their photo, a big picture of their photo, asking me to view the photo.

Two were my contacts in the past.

That's not difficult for me to do it, it's only one click away. But I find this very strange , and I don't like being emailed for it .

Checking up my past memory, I noticed the same flickr user emailed me few years ago requested me to check out his image . In a friendly manner, I did respond and left a comment on the image.

But I never got one back from the same flickr user, even a hidden fav . I think this person likes one way traffic for sure and "me " centered idea. Easy to psych up - hey, that's not how it works .

If you like views and favs, that's easy . My way is , don't email me. Rather visit my photo stream , leave a comment or fav on my latest postings, and I'll find your photos in flickr. I will count too how many you did lol. ( I'm not that vain ), but I will try and gladly reciprocate as much as I can ! Just don't clog up my emails.

In few days existence around flickr , you'll learn the simple dynamics, you earn views, comments/ favs on reciprocal basis mainly. Also put as many tags on your photos so it'll be found on online searches.

Joining and posting your photos in groups is another way your photos get noticed and get real people commenting / awarding. That's not bad for a starter.

If you're lucky having your photo on Explore, you boost up the number of views plus perhaps new people may leave comments. Although, I'm not sure if these EXPLORE views are real people ( I mean human beings ) viewing and astoundingly very impressed with our photos , but better than no views at all :)) . Sometimes I'm way convinced EXPLORE is simply a flickr configuration to boost up our individual egos and " feel better " factor and growing bonding attachment to flickr lol. Have you heard of FLICKR ADDICT ? It may give you a clue . I can't refrain from thinking maybe they have to used simple psychological tactics to get the hearts of people back in through EXPLORE mechanics .

I have number of photos on EXPLORE. Most of them aren't

"out of this world " impressive piece of work, just ordinary snap shots. I remember one boring flower photo I posted and in less than a day, it reached 6000 views. Hard to believe for a boring flower picture to catch so much attention / few thousand views in one day ? I wont complain though. However, for this reason , I can't avoid thinking slightly critical of EXPLORE .

My thoughts are, we should not expect a THOUSAND COMMENTS without giving away approximately the same. If I get 8,000 views, I would only hope they're real people, not 'GHOST' views manufactured by a flickr machine.
