The Carter Shields Cabin, Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park

George W. "Carter" Shields fought with the Union Army during the Civil War and purchased this property in 1910 and lived in this home for 11 years before selling it to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Great Smoky Mountains National Park lies on the border between North Carolina and Tennessee in the Southern Appalachian mountains.
