Rusty Neuro Pistons
Isn’t if funny how on regular journeys, (I was thinking about to work) how different the way in, and way back feel. I personally take one route to work, and come back another way, but unusually ‘both’ ways feel like the most efficient route. There doesn’t seem to be any logic to it. Why don’t I just take the shortest or quickest distance?
Now lets just assume for a moment I did the identical journey the opposite to the way I would usually, would they still be so different? I know they would be different, because you would be seeing things from the opposite direction, but I suspect it would probably feel very different. In fact I'm going to do it tomorrow! I'm going to break the routine and see how it feels! (Having said that I’m now worried to try move away from my secure relaxed way to work).
Yes, yes, I know there are variations to how the traffic works, (schools to avoid at certain times, traffic hotspots), but in general morning and evening rush hour feels different and the journey seems to have to reflect that. Now this on the surface seems totally illogical and I have recently observed myself doing this and wondered why?
Now with reference to this photograph, I decided to take a different direction on a circular walk I’ve done a few times before, with the purpose of finding out just how different an experiment it would be. To my delight, it truly felt like a different walk. It changed my perspectives and this gave me a new way of seeing what I’d got use to. Kind of broke my habit and left me feeling much better. I’m not sure if its because I'm nosey that I seem to thrive in different experiences, or it’s a human trait to seek out the new, but for me it’s a very welcome discovery. I’m going to try and take as many new perspectives as possible form now on. Do those walks at different times of the day / year / with different people……
I'd welcome suggestions to different ways of seeing things from you guys, in fact I’d love to be able to remove my self and see through others eyes or just one day…. (This is something for another rant, but I seem to remember a friend saying he went to a fancy dress party as Bob Marley a few years ago and he was shocked how he was treated by ‘some’ people in his local community on his way to the party). I think our world would be a much better place if we were able to have and understand those different perspectives. I better stop now as I'm just getting going and isn’t there always things to think about when those neuro pistons get moving.
