Open the door and let me be free

In August 2009 I joined with a couple of other doctors from our church to visit some of our friends in Malawi, especially Pastor Robert Maudsu in Luchenza and the 45 orphans he looks after there. These are some of the image from my visit there and also a couple of villages near Ngabo, in the Shiri Valley, known as Chamboko and Tombe.

As well as seeing nearly 1000 patients we also ran several training sessions for the village chief and church pastors regarding health and hygeine matters

It was wonderful to meet up with old friends and see some of the children we helped in 2007. More on that later...

The biggest problem is of couse poverty and the attitude the nothing can be done.

this is of course not true if the right people sit down together change for the best can be made, but the local folk need to be in the driving seat, they just need to be trained to drive the bus...
