East Cramlington Nature Reserve IR

Ive just taken ownership of the sought after Sony F717 which was available from around 2003. This 5mp camera has a 'Nightshot' mode which after adding an Infra Red Filter and ND8 can be used for Infra Red photography out of the box. I popped round to the Nature reserve just by my work to test it out and this was the result from using an 850nM IR Filter and Haida ND8. You have to use an ND8 due to the fact the shot will be blown out from the wide aperture f2-f2.4 and nightvision used in the Nightshot Mode which is green in camera.

This shot is a pano stitched in PS CS6 photomerge from 3 shots then i used a Black & White adjustment layer to get the mono result. Other than a crop its sooc.

Im really happy with the result but ive went from a high of receiving the camera to an almighty low!

I dropped the case it comes in this morning but thought nothing of it until i turned it on just before to check the battery power before heading out for some shooting. After power it up i was met with beeping and an error code E:61:10. I took the lens cap off and the focus was totally out. After some reading in the manual it appears 'a malfunction has occurred which cant be reversed'!! Ive rang Sony Repairs and its a fixed £117 charge to repair but i only paid £64 for it :[ Totally gutted!!
