28.10.18 Dobrich 07124 and 10025/26
At the time of my visit in October 2018, the non-electrified branch lines to Kardam and Silistra still saw through loco hauled overnight trains to Sofia. Both trains were allocated class 07 locos built in the early 1970s by Voroshilovgrad in the Soviet Union.
Seen here at Dobrich on the morning of 28 October 2018 is the 3-coach portion off the overnight train from Sofia which includes sleeping cars - train 2367, 07:45 Poveljanovo to Dobrich which arrived in around 10 minutes late. Booked to connect off it is a 2-car Desiro railcar no. 10025 with 10026 behind on train 28220, 09:10 Dobrich to Kardam.
The loco and coaches work a train back from Dobrich to Varna where presumably there is the opportunity to swap locos over and service the carriages. Later in the afternoon, the loco and stock work back up to Dobrich plus a return working to the end of the line at Kardam before heading back to Sofia overnight.
Meanwhile the railcar is booked to work other trains on the line, there is a small allocation at Varna which also covers the one needed for the Silistra branch.
