Smith Rock
One of my favorite views while hiking The Misery Trail over the larger massif at Smith Rock.
Crooked River winds it's way around this impressive smaller formation. There is such a primordial, primal feel to this place that was spellbinding and enthralling.
I should have stood here at first light (next time). Regrettably the rest of the hike was facing into the sun, albeit covered frequently by storm clouds. This was a challenge to process, with most of the features being in shadow.
Of all the places I was blessed to visit this year, Smith Rock was my favorite. Easy to see why it is one of Oregon's most visited state parks.
