Red All Over
238: After The Storm
26th August 2011.
Tonight the most almighty thunderstorm broke. I wasn't prepared for it (see the comments for yesterday's photos) so, despite my best efforts I wasn't able to get a single photograph of the incredible fork lightning or the rivers running down what were once roads for a while.
It was probably the worst storm I've seen around here. After I'd been sitting in the car watching it for a while I decided to try and drive home, only to find that the water on the roads was up to the tops of my wheels. I was worried it was going to get into the engine! There were enormous fountains spewing water into the air in the middle of road junctions where storm drains were overwhelmed.
And in the end all I got was this measly photo, taken on my iPhone, after the floodwaters had abated because of tending to a leak at my parents' house, showing the build up of sand at the end of a road which had been flooded temporarily. Shame, today's picture could have been stunning if I was better prepared.
