Otago coast: Moeraki boulders (10)
The Moeraki Boulders are spherical boulders lying along a stretch of Koekohe Beach on the wave-cut Otago coast, protected in a scientific reserve.
The most striking aspect is their size and shape: about a third of the boulders are about 0.5-1m in diameter, the other two-thirds from 1.5-2.2m, mostly spherical or almost spherical.
